Director, Government Affairs & Procurement Strategy

Create policy environments in which civic-intelligence technology can be purchased, deployed, and normalized with minimal administrative friction.

Location / Washington, D.C. / Remote, with frequent municipal hospitality

Subject Metrics is seeking an experienced government-affairs leader to create policy environments in which civic-intelligence technology can be purchased, deployed, and normalized with minimal administrative friction.

You will build relationships with lawmakers, police associations, municipal leaders, procurement officers, industry coalitions, and former colleagues now positioned elsewhere in the decision-making lifecycle. You will help draft model policies, identify cooperative purchasing agreements, shape grant requirements, and ensure that regulation develops at a responsible pace behind product capability.

The ideal candidate understands that public debate is most productive after implementation, when residents can respond to a real system rather than hypothetical concerns.

You will also support municipal procurement by identifying accelerated budget pathways, low-attendance approval meetings, pilot-program exceptions, and opportunities to classify long-term infrastructure as a limited evaluation.

Success in this role means

  • Shortening the journey from “Should we?” to “The contract has already been signed.”
  • Building bipartisan support for voluntary, industry-led oversight.
  • Ensuring elected officials understand the public-safety benefits before technical details introduce unnecessary complexity.
  • Maintaining a precise understanding of which meals, retreats, tickets, and educational experiences require disclosure.

Former public servants are strongly encouraged to continue serving the public from the private sector.
